"Damn Near Spectacular", available today, April 18, is Pillbox Patti unleashed – with no limitations or rules, just raw, unfiltered genre-bending power. It’s a middle finger wrapped in glitter, a gritty, sarcastic anthem for the underdog and "the bitch they love to hate." Pillbox Patti (aka accomplished songwriter Nicolette Hayford) breaks out of the typical country mold. It’s raw, real, and full of the kind of confidence only possible when you're calling your own shots. Fueled by fearless songwriting and unshakable confidence, Patti doubles down on everything that makes her unforgettable. Love her or hate her, she’s not here to blend in. She’s here to blow the damn doors off. "The truth is, I was in such a bad place from everything that went down, I wasn’t sure I was going to release music again," said Pillbox Patti. "Only a few people know how dark that whole experience actually got for me. I was on a writing trip to LA when I got the news that I was officially out of my deal. I was so relieved. We celebrated in every room and 'Damn Near Spectacular' is a result of one of those sessions. I finally felt free enough to be like, 'you know what? f*** y’all for that.' I’m grateful and I’m hateful cuz that shit was whack." |

This release opens the next chapter of Pillbox Patti as she reclaims her artistry and diversity of sound. Known for penning hits like Ashley McBryde’s “One Night Standards,” Lainey Wilson’s “Weak-End,” and Elle King’s “Baby Daddy’s Weekend,” Patti brings a genre-defying blend of country, rock, hip-hop, and raw storytelling described as “unflinchingly honest” by Holler and “one part playful, one part painful” by MusicRow Magazine. Her single “Eat, Pray, Drugs” was named one of Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Songs of 2022, and she was recognized as Billboard’s Country Rookie of the Month, CMT's Next Women of Country Class of 2023 and MusicRow’s 2023 Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year. Patti has performed at both the CMA and ACM Awards, gracing major festival stages including CMA Fest, C2C Festival, Faster Horses, TidalWave, Tortuga and has toured with the likes of Jelly Roll & Brantley Gilbert, The Cadillac Three, Koe Wetzel and Old Crow Medicine Show. "Damn Near Spectacular" is what happens when a writer like Nicolette Hayford, who’s spent a decade helping others tell their stories, finally gets to tell her own without compromise. The song is written by Hayford, Lucky West and Katelyn Tarver, and was produced by Park Chisolm. With bold, sarcastic lines and dry humor, the song captures Patti’s unbothered attitude: "I'm the bitch they love to hate.Mercury in retrograde, kind of stale but its a piece of cake.I'm generally unfazed. And I'm out like every night, looking shitty in fluorescent lights.I'm Damn Near Spectacular." |
