Published by University of Georgia Press, "Chet Atkins: Mr. Guitar" is the first definitive biography of the legendary musician. With scholarly depth and narrative flair, Dr. Cusic traces Atkins’s journey from a self-taught teenager in rural Tennessee to a Grammy-winning virtuoso, producer, and music executive. Known as the architect of the “Nashville Sound,” Atkins transformed country music, producing a smoother blend of country and pop that bridged genres and changed the recording industry forever.

Atkins’s influence reached far beyond the South. He worked with icons like Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, and Dolly Parton, and inspired generations of musicians from George Harrison to Tommy Emmanuel. Fellow guitar legends Steve Wariner and John Knowles, both named Certified Guitar Players (CGPs) by Atkins himself, have called his artistry and mentorship “unbelievable” and “elegant.”
