Correia discussed the significance behind the track, saying “I wrote ‘One That Got Away’ after a failed relationship many years ago. The song is as raw and emotional, as the anger I was experiencing at the time was a necessary emotional phase I needed to crawl through in order to fly again. The video was filmed in Historic Leiper's Fork, TN, one of my very favorite places. Blue, the horse, was such a good boy during the shoot. He even stopped to take pictures with his fans at Fox & Locke after filming!” The lyrics of "One That Got Away" capture the struggle of dealing with hurtful behavior, as Correia declares, "I'm not gonna wait, I'm not gonna waste another night."
